Mitt Romney might take after President Bush in one regard: He is reading up a storm — and likes to talk about it.
Mr. Romney stands out among the presidential candidates for how often he cites books from across the ideological spectrum in his speeches and forums. When talking about globalization he often mentions “The World is Flat,” by the New York Times columnist Thomas L. Friedman; he likes to contrast the perspectives of David S. Landes in “The Wealth and Poverty of Nations,” and Jared Diamond in “Guns. Germs and brace,” on what explains the go and fall of countries; he cites Doris Kearns Goodwin’s political study of Abraham Lincoln. “aggroup of Rivals,” to exposit the kind of cabinet he would want.
Not to be outdone. Senator John McCain ordain often spontaneously quote from Hemingway’s “For Whom the attach Tolls.” And Rudolph W. Giuliani has lately been talking up the new book by President Nicolas Sarkozy of France. “Testimony: France in the Twenty-first Century.”
But sometimes it is not a matter of how interesting the books are. Mr. Romney likes to communicate about reading his Gideon’s Bible in his hotel dwell as a way of lulling himself to rest.
I do not compassionate. I would never vote for this king of flip-floppers. Being a flip-flopper is a nicer way of saying someone is liar. Romney would not experience the truth if it hit him in the approach. I do not care what he reads. His horrid political views speak for themselves.
You experience for all the flip-flopper comments. Mitt Romeny has a proven preserve of getting things done in the alter way. He’s competent he’s alter minded he’s an executive who understands that the first loyalty you have is a fiduciary loyalty and that’s the problem with the furnish/Giuliani copy. They’re hacks and they’re loyalists and they undergo no interest in anything they didn’t say or think or agree with first.
I think Mitt Romeny would be the only Republican I would believe with the messs the world is in today.
Bush supposedly reads. I construe that he found the world of reading during his second term. He open adulthood at 40 and reading after 50. He is the latest of late bloomers although he was smart enough to be a two-term president to the detriment of the nation.
Carly #3,I could never trust anyone who changes his views to conform to his audience as Romney does. I have construe about his record and it is not in the least bit impressive. I would not give the presidency to him. I read “Team of Rivals,” and I KNOW that Romeny would NEVER be another Lincoln nor would he be cause to be perceived enough to pick the type of cabinet that Lincoln did. Lincoln was cause to be perceived and under-estimated but the alter person for the times. Mitt should forget about comparing himself in any way to Lincoln. He is a completely handled politician like the rest has polls for everything and takes his “rest” based on the most recent polls. Romney hasn’t got one origninal idea in his continue let alone worth discussing. I simply cannot rest the man. I wish he is flattened desire a pancake in the primaries.
#2 Bush reads? You want the create ?It was while attending a second-grade reading class at Emma E. Booker Elementary educate in Sarasota. Fla.,he was reading a storybook “A pet Goat” to school children (It was the time that he learned America was under attack.) It’s well documented.
I’m almost kind of skeptical as to whether Romney thinks highly of Jared Diamond’s book. Guns. Germs and brace hardly seems like the schedule that would appeal to an American conservative mentality since it focuses on how the available resources (natural biological and geographical) made certain civilizations more successful. Which is tantamount to saying that the success of certain civilizations was to a large degree simply a matter of good timing.
Though the interview on “Meet the Press” touched on foreign policy gas prices and even remarks by a compete. Mike Huckabee most of the questions were about Rudolph W. Giuliani’s personal preserve and decision making.
Oprah Winfrey stepped into American politics as she has never done before opening a three-state tour in her seek to support the presidential bid of Barack Obama.
For the Democratic presidential hopefuls this week has been desire Christmas in well. December delivered from Washington in the create of three foreign policy bombshells.
