"Agnostic Front - Warriors" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 15:17:15

Agnostic Front commands a huge amount of consider in the hardcore community. They've been around for a quarter of a century and have seen thousands of bands come and go while they act to soldier on. Warriors is exactly what you'd expect from Agnostic lie. It's intense hardcore/crossover thrash with thick meaty riffs from guitarists Joseph James and Vinnie Stigma. The songs are simple catchy and groovy and also pack plenty of punch. They are focused and bunco with 14 tracks clocking in at barely over 30 minutes. Agnostic lie's lyrics are a combination of anger and sage advice about life and the wisdom of unity and staying adjust to yourself. Roger Miret's vocals are typical hardcore style speaking/yelling with plenty of aggroup vocals. Agnostic Front's music and message comfort resonates as powerfully as it ever did and even though they are getting up there in age show no signs of slowing down.

"All That Remains - Live DVD (2007)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 13:48:59

I went into this DVD only knowing the name All That Remains rather than what the bind actually sounded desire. Living in Rhode Island that’s odd for me because I usually have a good idea of what’s going on in the New England Metal scene. All That Remains comes from Boston. Massachusetts (my backyard) and they play many local dates among bills that undergo been in larger venues like Ozzfest and Sounds Of The Underground. Not only that but their last studio album. THE FALL OF IDEALS (2006) has exceeded 100,000 units sold and is closing in abstain on 150,000! All That Remains is also featured on the GUITAR HERO video game and MTV’s Headbanger’s roll. With all this success and the band’s close homebase it’s surprising that I haven’t come across their music. When I pressed PLAY. I watched a serious and energetic performance from The Recher Theatre in Baltimore with fan reaction before and after. Knowing nothing about the music. I was immeadiately drawn in by Phil Labonte (ex-Shadows Fall) commanding presence at the mic and the guitar dueling of Oli Hebert and Mike Martin. Songs like ‘Six’. Tattered On My Sleeve’ and ‘Indictment’ are explosive and just alter the crowd go wilder as evidenced by the pit and the surprise that never stops moving and is slam packed. Interviews after the show reveal a enumerate for the ER: broken feet fingers cuts bruises sprains…. all with an undying enthusiasm for All That Remains. The concert from Philadelphia at The Theatre Of Living Arts is slightly shorter but no less powerful. ‘Become The Catalyst’. ‘This Darkened Heart’ and ‘Not Alone’ hit the audience into a frenzy. The crowd eats up the band’s amalgamate of Hardcore and Melodic Death Metal and responds desire Baltimore: more broken bones cuts bruises…. to be young again! Not sure I’d venture into the pit! For someone that had no roll about the band the inclusion of six videos backstage footage and interviews really helped me get an idea of who the band are and what there studio albums sound like. My favorite extra is the fans…. hearing how they react before and after the two concerts at the cater and greets etc is truly what being a Metal fan is all about. furnish lie:If you like All That Remains this is essential to your collection. If you’ve just discovered the bind this DVD is a great introduction. For me this was a great way to discover a new bind (to me they have three albums!) and become a fan. This DVD was just released on October 30th and is come up worth the money spent…. now I have to spend some more and get their studio albums. "Moonspell Interview" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-27 20:25:43

The Portugese metal bind Moonspell is revisiting their early days. The band formed approve in 1992 and released their innovate EP Under The Moonspell in 1994. In 2007 they re-recorded all the songs from that EP along with several other early tracks and are calling it Under Satanae. Drummer Miguel “Mike” Gaspar tells about the decision to re-record this material their next album of new material the metal scene in Portugal and more. Chad Bowar: What inspired you to want to re-record earlier songs for Under Satanae? Mike Gaspar: I think it was more the opportunity to finally preserve these classic songs with the production and sound they always deserved. The playing is also better. We were (egest) musicians with very poor instruments but we had a lot of passion. We tried to act the feeling on the album. But does it rock a hell of a lot better? It sure does! I think the end result is that it has inspired us. In addition to the Under The Moonspell tracks what is the origin of the other songs? “Serpent Angel” is the first promo track. Moonspell was called Morbid God at the measure. This was in 1991. We changed the name and did a show in ‘92. These are the remaining songs. They are the most simple and basic songs we ever did but the inspiration of the measure was the beat: Bathory. Celtic Frost. Samael. Tiamat. Morbid Angel and all the underground. We were part of the new black metal and it is comfort going on today. Never in our dreams would we have thought it would be so popular. What kind of changes did you make to the songs? We wanted to keep them as faithful as much as we could. What makes the difference is the playing and proper structuring. We have learned a lot these past years. It entangle like we were doctors analyzing what we had done. We started from adjust and built it all together again. It was fun. We discovered a lot of ourselves in these tracks. How was it working with Tue Madsen? Great! He is very easy going and has much confidence in the sound he gets and how he records. But he always is willing to listen to others’ opinions and sometimes he also learns from that. It really entangle like we were bringing the best of both sides into the project. He also made sure we were very comfortable in Denmark. That always makes it sweeter to do albums. We worked hard and were always on plan. We both liked that way of working. All night studio sessions are just stupid. What are your plans for the next album? We undergo pre-production with Waldemar (Sorychta) in November here in Portugal. We will write some stuff together. We will preserve the new album in January in Denmark once more. We also undergo a very cool Halloween celebrate in Lisbon. It ordain be a night to bequeath. Any chance of a U. S tour any time soon? We are trying hard to get our label out there. We have already done some cool tours but we know we can do exceed. Next album we ordain tour for sure. Where haven't you played live that you would comfort like to get to? lacquer and Australia. We get many fans on MySpace so I experience they are out there. Also we saw many at Wacken. So sooner or later it will happen. How did you get started in music? I’ve always loved music since I can remember. I was 6 and used chopsticks to drum. When I was 14 I had my first band and at 16 Moonspell. So I don´t know much else than this life. Why do anything else if you can rock? Was there an artist or album that inspired you? Bathory and Quarthon. They were biggest affect on the bind and Fernando. If not for him we would not be chatting for sure. What are your all time favorite artists and albums? Morbid Angel – Blessed are the Sick. Bathory –Hammerheart. Death- Leprosy. Sepultura – Beneath The Remains. drive – Aenima. Dead Can move – Into the Labyrinth. Field Of The Nephilim – Earth Inferno and many many more. What is the metal scene like these days in Portugal? (Crap) as always. We don´t have much of a metal culture. We wish for the day we could be compared to Finland or Sweden for our metal. But we are years in the past in terms of mentality. We do undergo many more shows but only the bigger acts. Not much of a solid circuit and not many venues for shows either. It ain´t easy being into metal or goth around here. It feels like there is no respect. Are you able to alter a living from music or do you have a day job? We’ve made a living from Moonspell for about 8 years now. The beginning was tough. But now we are organized and manage to live. We do have other cram we desire to do. Fernando writes books and participates in everything he can concerning literature. I do tae kwondo and teach classes. Pedro has a family and Ricardo is in his own world. He does Aikido for the stress. Aires is the only one that has to bring home the bacon. He does a lot of cover bands and bar nights. But we evaluate he goes for the remove whiskey! Anything else you’d like to add? Thanks a lot! wish to see you all soon and I am proud to be part of metal. Moonspell ordain be around the corner sooner than you evaluate.

"Mehida - Blood & Water" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 17:55:35

change surface though daub & Water is the first album from the Finnish bind Mehida they undergo an impressive musical pedigree. Their members undergo been in groups including Candlemass. Therion. Kotipelto and Sonata Arctica. Mehida's music is very melodic with big hooks and singalong choruses. There are also cater metal and progressive influences. The keyboards are very prominent along with plenty of crunchy guitar riffs and soaring solos. Even though the songs are complex with a lot of progressive elements a strong comprehend of melody always remains. Thomas Vikstrom (Therion. Candlemass) is Mehida's vocalist and he has a express that's both powerful and expressive. He has a good be and varied delivery. Lyrically the songs undergo a strong Christian communicate. Blood & Water isn't a real standout but it is a solid melodic metal release.

"Eilera - Fusion" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 12:20:16

After a demo and an EP. Fusion is the first full-length from the cut bind Eilera. They are a duo of vocalist Eilera and guitarist Loic Tezenas and brought in session musicians to play the rest of the instruments on the album. Fusion is an appropriate call for this CD as Eilera's music is a fusion of gothic metal electronica and celtic music. The songs undergo the melancholy atmosphere of gothic metal and in addition to metal guitars there are a lot of keyboards samples and go machines. Add to that celtic sounding violins and you have a very diverse and unusual album. Eilera has a pure and strong express and sings very dynamically. Whether the songs are grand and symphonic or avant-garde and electronic she has the versatility to pull it off. Female fronted gothic metal is a pretty saturated market right now but Eilera has a unique enough sound to stand out from the crowd.
