One would not guess from listening that the assort were largely from Trinidad with the proliferation of heavy bluesy guitar and organ riffs and the strained soul-rock vocals of Lou Phillips. They recorded one album released in 1971 that received little notice before their breakup. The Next Morning formed in the late 1960s in New York four of the five members having go to the city from Trinidad; Lou Phillips was from the Virgin Islands. Whitesnake’s Slide It in Album in 1984 spearheaded the band’s convert into the glam coat scene. There were two different versions of this record released. One version in the UK and Canada and another in the United States. The U. S version added John Sykes as a third guitar player over Mel Galley and Micky Moody. The ultra polish U. S version focused less on the keyboards of Jon Lord and is more centered around John Sykes playing. To me the U. S album is the perfect set up for the band’s monstrous 1987 album. This album made me a lifetime John Sykes and David Coverdale fan and more importantly a Whitesnake fan. glide It In is an album that is often over looked by its ultra popular successor in 1987 but is a record that should not be missed!
