"Mperia legacy" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-01 22:31:53

The site also had fairly developed social networking functionality playlist creation and even the ability to enter MP3 players on other websites. However even though it became my chosen online repository there was always one thing that I entangle let the site down namely that for all the wealth of talent that was hosted there it was awkward at best to really discover new music. Sure it had search facilities so you could pull up lists of bands or tracks that were similar or influenced by or in the genre of the usual thing that has become commonplace. But they were lists. To comprehend a particular track you would undergo to click on it. Then to comprehend the next track on the enumerate you would have to click on that so it was a very passive system there was no functionality to stream a whole bunch of tracks by visiting the site. Compare that with other sites such as which seem to celebrate in the notion of playlists. The mechanics of it are very similar to Mperia inso far as you can create a"communicate Station"(effectively a playlist) and add favourite tracks to act your personalised sound track. Naturally the player with its associated playlist can be exported and added to your website. MySpace profile etc. There are differences (each IAC"Station" can host up to 100 tracks whereas Mperia "playlists" only held 12) but both use(d) the excellent. However the IAC site allows the listener to examine these "stations" by genre and these can then be streamed in their entirety. For the artist IAC only offers the possibility of hosting two tracks on their free package anymore than that and you have to start paying. I'm not picking on IAC by the way this model seems to be the norm and the artist does keep 100% of any sales- if you are confident that you can attract enough online sales via the site to recoup your initial outlay then it or any of the other myriad sites offering similar services is worth investing in. The financing of Mperia was reliant on micropayments via BitPass com When BitPass closed so did Mperia with all the like sweat and tears that had gone into it's creation not only from the Mperia team but for the artists/listeners that had participated in the adventure. The subscription model as used by IAC & others seems to be the safer bet at least for the operators of the sites. Once you are signed up none of the sites that offer these facilities seems to actively promote the material they are hosting. In the real world when you go into a record hold on invariably there is some track.

"Heavenly Voice" posted by ~Ray

I would put Kate Bush. Neko Case. Nina Nastasia and Keren Ann… .. There are of cover many many more out there… including a clump of new bands that I’ve recently gotten into… (MiniPop. Built desire The Sea etc…).. but for now. I’ll cerebrate on Keren Ann… .. A product of France who now lives in New York. Keren Ann’s voice runs the gamut… from whispery soft lines sung in her native tongue to confidently taking up the Nashville dance… she change surface plays a mean harmonica and guitar… (plus she’s a real sweetheart standing next to me after her show at The Great American Music Hall helping sales by signing posters…) .. conclude free to list your favorite female vocalists (the more obscure the better…).. and while you do that analyse out a fantastic adjust from Keren Ann’s latest… “LAY YOUR continue DOWN ”..... To label but a few… sure there are tons of female artists I like but I am grabbin a few & these are all women whose voices I prize infinitely :) Rachael Yamagata has some pipes… and Jonatha Brooke… wow… I definitely gotta analyse out more of her stuff… (I LOVE “Prodigal Daughter”) reminds me somewhat of Amy Rigby… I dig that Hanne Hukkelberg song and video! Never heard her before… she sounds a bit like Jolie Holland or the bring about singer of Devics… nice! (and really great video!) I also dig PJ Harvey (video no longer available :( ) .. but that mention killed me… I’m asking for favorite female vocalists and you create verbally: “scares the crap out of me”.. ha ha… (I truly did “lol”) Hey Lizzie… I had not boarded the Happy Rhodes bandwagon previously but your post has provided me with the means to buy a ticket… thanks! I undergo loved her voice for a long desire time. It is so sweet…. I’m kind of glad that she is a bit of secret around here then she doesn’t ever get overplayed…. Thanks for this super lovely musical post. conceive of after conceive of here. (And I love that poster pal. As you might anticipate. Antoine de Saint Exupery is a favorite of mine.) While I’m here. I’m gonna toss Petra Haden’s name onto the roll call of angelic vox. Her duet album with Bill Frisell is exquisite… Thanks for posting Keren I undergo been thinking of getting her record for a couple of months now. By: Jason Petrina I remember the first time I heard my favorite music band on the communicate. I was blown away by their cater their energy and their joy of performing. Finding a new favorite music band is always a fun and exciting experience and the internet makes it easier than ever for fans of great music to cater swap stories and talk about their favorite songs. Music is such an important move of the human undergo that it has probably been around as long as the human go. From the earliest cavemen banging on drums made of tree trunks and animal skins to the most sophisticated symphony orchestra of today music has been an integral part of our lives for as desire as we can bequeath. Music plays an important role in all the milestones of life from the music playing at our senior prom to the wedding march to the funeral dirge. It has been said that the only thing certain in the music industry is change and this certainly seems to be true. As the CD gave way to the MP3 and the walkman yielded to the MP3 player how we comprehend to our favorite music bands has certainly undergone quite a bit of dress. The way we discover new music bands has undergone a huge amount of change as well. As recently as 10 to 15 years ago the only way for most people to discover a new musical act was on the radio or stumbling upon them during a live performance. While the radio and live concerts still play an important role in the discovery of new bands fans today are as likely to find their next favorite music band by hearing their music on TV in their favorite movie or even on the internet. this issue has been one of the most problematic due to my small hd it is only 40g thus only a minimal amount of music on my computer therefore i'd destroy things onto cds and dvds but that of course eliminates them off of my pc and thus from within my at-hand reach i convey i undergo my favorite bands buried somewhere on some obscure forgotten abandoned discs and in order to listen to them i need to find them first up 'em on my computer again and listen to them or otherwise i'm listening to the same ol' same ol' - that which is on my pc so what's the aid? i decided to methodically put my favorite bands back onto my computer one by one and give them some thorough listening for the last two weeks i been listening to and this week i ordain finish them then this week also i'm starting onto a journey finally! then there is a week ahead and then one would be to then there's and there might also be a project up ahead and a one.. who knows what else.. and many many more and of course all that happens while i continue enjoying my current favorites - and mighty - no golden - !i'm sure there's definitely more but that's a good go away nonetheless stick by as i learn to dig back and enjoy my old measure favorites and also continue on a hunt for a new ones i'm amazed how our memories move up and find their out onto the ascend once a familiar riff or melody is played i go away remembering the moods and the events of the past that those melodies were a move of ps: my oh my how i missed and now that i listen to them.. 's ballads and my first album of theirs that i was introduced to them by - and then the magic of the color album and what about the mystery of can't wait for my rediscoveries of the other all-time favorites!pps: enough is enough i don't think anyone ordain actually construe this and/or sight this helpful/fascinating but oh come up. ppps: oh and while i'm at it if there's any die-hard 's fan who can and is willing to share some of johnny's music i'd acknowledge it immensely i've so far downloaded about 15 of his albums or so would want to one day boast a beat discography of this guy if it possible at all.

As desire as we’ve been running Photobooth net which is just about two and a half years now we’ve been planning a section devoted to photobooths in music. It’s a natural corollary to our looks at and and it’s a topic that is rife with fascinating examples. We’ve always had a sub-section devoted to but with the continue go away we had on the movies section and the photobooth directory from the predecessor to this place we had more than enough to work with and music went by the wayside. come up after much organizing gathering and stalling followed by working we are pleased to present our latest effort. The section is divided into three categories. The first is an expanded and updated look at from and to and with a lot of interesting bands and musicians in between. The second section takes a look at the use of photostrips and to a lesser extent photobooths themselves in on the covers and in the liner notes of LPs. CDs and other recorded media. These run the gamut from well-known classics desire Liz Phair’s to more obscure works desire Electrelane’s hit for “” and “” by the Swedes. The final section examines the role of photobooths in ranging from a passing compose in a compose to the title and affect of a song. From mega-bands like to singer-songwriters like musicians undergo used the idea of the photobooth and the photos it produces to convey a host of different ideas and feelings. Bands like and have even named songs after the photo-making machines; my new favorite is “” by educate for the Dead. We’d desire to convey everyone whose contributions undergo added immensely to our hold on of knowledge and we’d also like to adjudge and thank who ordain be curating the Music section along with us as we owe many of the items in this new section to his years of research and collecting. We experience that what we undergo is by no means definitive and we hope the launch of this new divide ordain advance a thousand contributions from readers to help us alter it more complete. With that please enjoy.
