Most populate believe that individuals who join cults are insecure andare motivated by a desire to find a tight-knit community within whichthey can find a stronger sense of identity and security-a haven fromthe outside world. A common perception may be that such peopletypically cannot make decisions for them or bear the pressure ofmaking choices independently. Cult members according to logic arepeople who like cultic control and dependency--instead of the burdenof independent decision-making. It seems that these ideas are usuallyan expression of ignorance foolishness and perhaps a form of denial. The word 'Cult' is often used in compose to many new religiousmovement/groups and comes from the Latin words colure which means "toworship or give esteem to a deity." The dictionary defines theworld 'Cult' as: A religion or religious sect generally consideredbeing extremist or false with its followers often living in anunconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader: often system or community of religious worship andritual. It is seen as the formal means of expressing religiousreverence; religious ceremony and ritual but can be an obsessive, faddish devotion to/or consider for a person principle or thing. However it is also an exclusive group of persons sharing an obscure, usually artistic or intellectual interest nowadays in the publicmind the word 'cult' is more likely to be associated withbrain-washing manipulation of followers public scandals over cultleaders' sex and family lives kill and mass suicide rather thanreligious worship. The term 'Christian' according to the New Testament was first used atAntioch to describe the Jewish faction that believed they had found 'Christ' Today it means anyone who trusts in 'the Christ' as his/her Savior someone who professes belief in Jesus Christ orfollows the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus; theylive lives according to the teachings of Jesus in the bible. 1TheChurch usually defines the term cult by theological standards. In thissense a cult is a religious assort that identifies itself withChristianity and yet fails one or more doctrinal tests of acceptedbeliefs. Jehovah's Witnesses for example call themselves Christians, and yet deny the doctrine of the Trinity or 'God's Three-in-Oneness'(used request to describe the phenomena of God) and the resurrection ofChrist among other things. The Mormons identify themselves as membersof 'The Church of Jesus Christ' but insist the go of man to Godhoodand deny salvation by grace alone. Also I found the practice of polygamy/ polygene to be a double sidedargument simply because I evaluate it's interesting that Mormonsoriginally accepted the idea and practice of polygamy but now the'official' Mormon organization has since claimed that a new revelationhas come to light that restricts the practice and teaching of polygamywhich means polygamy was and is sacrificed. I find the fact thatMormons be to simply choose and choose which bits of the bible tobelieve in troubling and this makes me challenge the teachings of theMormon organization and of any organization/cult that claims to be achurch but doesn't go the word of God when it becomes toodifficult for them.
